這就是為什麼我和Martin一直在強調的事情-Use simple words to communicate with
people in real life.

Flag

The flag of the United States is red, white, and blue. Red
stands for courage. White stands for honor. And blue stands for justice. The
flag has 13 stripes of red and white. These stripes stand for the first 13
states. The top left corner of the flag is blue with 50 white starts. The
starts stand for the 50 states in the United States today.

In the United States, people honor
their flag on June 14. June 14 is Flag Day. On June 14, people fly the flag on
their homes, businesses, and city buildings.

The flag of Canada is white with a red
maple leaf on it. One each side of the maple leaf is a red stripe. The red
maple leaf stands for the country of Canada.

In both Canada and the United States,
people fly the flag on holidays. In the U.S., one big holiday is the Fourth of
July. The Fourth of July honors the day the country was born. That day was July
4, 1776.

A big holiday in Canada is Canada Day
on July 1. This holiday honors the day that the county was united. That day was
July 1, 1867.

There are many parades on Canada Day
and the Fourth of July. Many bands march in the parades.

It is rude not to stand when the flag
of any country goes by. It is rude not to salute the flag of your own country.
It is rude for a man not to remove his hat for his country’s flag.

Most countries have rules for honoring
the flag. Here are a few rules that many countries follow:

1.    Do not fly the flag in the rain.

2.    Do not let the flag touch the floor.

3.    Do not throw away an old flag. Burn
it with care.
